New Play Festival 2019: Lives on the Line

thumbnail_DSC06398_383_web.jpg

In 2019, out of a pool of over 20, I had the fortune to be selected as one of seven playwrights for the Quinnipiac University New Play Festival, sponsored by The Barrow Group. For one night, I got to work with professionals in the theater industry to bring my play to life on a New York City stage. It was a wonderful learning experience.

Screenplays

Mother of Mine

Made with Final Draft 11. I feel this is one of my best pieces. I wrote it in college and continued to edit it, even submitting it to the Austin Fim Festival short screenplay contest. It follows the story of a young man trying to find his mother.

Character Anthology

A collection of short character studies done for a writing assignment in university. In one of them, I remember trying to lean into a Tim Burton-meets-Wes Anderson feel.

The Bar

A short story done for an assignment in college to use as many names as possible. As someone who is always a fan of film noir, I ended up writing something on the sillier side while still attempting to keep the story grounded.

Live Action Role Play

Live Action Role-Play (LARP)

I currently volunteer with a collection of nonprofit east-coast based LARPs that use a shared rules system, and have done so since I was 15. Typically operating out of anime conventions, I co-head one of the few Discord-based LARPs, which provides the Nexus LARP experience to people who cannot come to our in-person events due to accessibility or financial reasons.

Module Sample

This is the collaborative "plot doc" for MikataLARP 2022, where I took point as the narrative lead. Here you can see the collaborative writing and planning that my fellow Game Masters ("GMs") created for the weekend.

This is an example of a planned module "scene" for LARP. This was performed at WanderLARP 2026, where I was an Assistant Game Master. Based on Dropout's popular show "Game Changer", the difficulty with this specific scene was threading the needle between metagaming in-jokes from the community with the ability for a LARPer to still understand and play in-character.
